It is our great pleasure to announce that we will be releasing our debut album, You and the Earth, You and the Sea, into the world on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017. It is the culmination of much time spent in our studios, The Tinshack (Eureka, CA) and Sunnyside Up (San Francisco, CA), as well as on the road between these two creative havens. We are proud to have handled every step of the process. From writing, to performing, to engineering, to producing and mixing, we have tailored the record to capture our musical vision. In such times of great cultural tumult, we know that art’s role in offering pause only increases. Our aim is to craft music that is not derivative or merely decorative. Instead, we hope the songs inspire even the smallest contemplation of what it means to be a person living in this pervasive digital age.
We've been busy these past few years sculpting exactly the kind of record we wanted to make for you all. We have taken time not only writing the songs and their arrangements independently, but engineering, producing, and mixing them ourselves as well. We could not be happier with the results. We're so pleased to present our debut full length album to your patient ears in the coming months!
Yet another regal visitation occurred in the midst of making this album (You and the Earth, You and the Sea): we were given access to not only an astounding pipe organ in the sacred confines of a 19th century church, but the classically accomplished musician who plays it each Sunday. We're very thankful we had the opportunity to work with Issa Stemler (who also plays accordion on a couple songs) and to have recorded in such a spectacular place.
